Its funny how many people don’t understand the value of a lesson. Not a week going buy when someone comes into the proshop to buy a new club to improve their game. When I ask if they have thought about a lesson 1st they usually say they’ve never had one before. I always find it funny that the best players in the world (the ones who apparently KNOW what they are doing) have swing coaches and other golf teaching professionals helping them improve their game sometimes 3 times a week and the average golfer thinks buying a new club will do it for them.

Our PGA golf professional also recognizes this and has decided to try and help you out this weekend.

JUNIORS
On Saturday between 1-3pm we are going to offer $5/Junior (inc tax) lessons to JUNIORS to introduce them to the game of golf. The lessons will take place every 1/2 hour with no more then 6 at a time. Bring our your child, grandchild, neice, nephew whatever and give them a chance to try hitting the golf ball. Call our proshop at 705 322 1664 to book your time or try your luck and just show up and we will try to fit you in.

ADULTS
We are going to run the adult version on the Holiday Monday between 11am-3pm. Same deal $5/person lesson. Come out as a individual, family or with friends. Again lessons will be going every 1/2 hour with no more then 6 at a time. Call our proshop at 705 322 1664 to book your time or try your luck and just show up and we will try to fit you in.

In fact it was even snowing again this morning but the golf league registrations have been very busy, the golf ladies lesson clinics have filled up really nicely and everything is ready to go for next week. Our Annual Spring into Golf event this year taking place on Sunday April 22nd 1pm till 4:30pm and Monday April 23rd 9am until 4:30pm. As per usual you will be able to golf for free if you pay for the rental of a power cart. Tee times are required so be sure to book your time soon as they typically go very fast.

We figured its great and all to let people golf for free 1st thing in the Spring but why not give them a refresher course on swinging the club. New for this year during our Spring into Golf Event our golf professional Paul Jennings will be offering 1/2 hour lessons for only $5. The lessons will take place every 1/2 hour (except between 12-1pm on Monday when apparently Paul needs to eat!!). The lessons will be in groups of no more then 6 people. You can try and just show up on the day or prebook your lesson by giving us a call.

We had few golfers from Barrie, Midland and Elmvale. A couple new members from Wasaga Beach (memberships are almost all gone) and another busy day setting up the clubhouse. Golfers are now starting to register for the free golf days. You can always tell when people are starting to get the itch.

We’re not completely ready but the pins & tee markers are out and the greens have been cut. The proshop will open at 10am but the bar and kitchen aren’t ready yet. We will be ready to take green fees and yes Carts can go out!! We are going to play it day by day cause we know at this time of year the weather can change quickly.

Wow things are looking great. The greens came through perfect. Unfortunately there is still a bunch of snow back on the 6th green, 7th hole and 11th green. I’m sure it will go quick but it looks like it will push back our opening until next week. Sorry folks but we are almost there. Whether you are a golfer from Barrie, Wasaga Beach, Midland, or Penetanguishene, Orr Lake is a place you need to check out this year.
